Bulawayo: On Friday 30 August 2019, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in collaboration with Paper Bag Africa and Convergence will host the fifth edition of the monthly late evening event dubbed Friday Late. Proceedings kick-off at 5:30pm.
Friday Late is an event which seeks to build new audiences for NGB exhibitions and events. The platform showcases old and new exhibitions and further showcases other art forms namely music, dance, film, poetry and food stalls. Friday Late seeks to accommodate those that cannot visit the Gallery during working hours but would love to be a part of the Gallery’s cultural offing. Friday Late also caters for young people keen to engage in dialogue and networking in a creative space.
This Friday, award-winning poet and writer – PAN will put up a 30minutes act with some other poets such as Munya G and Natasha Karimakwenda. Award-winning rap artist, Cal Vin alongside artists such as Killemol, RulzzyNation3rd, Nyasha Bothwell, Blessing Mokoena, and VikMoe are also billed to perform. The National Gallery in Bulawayo will also launch a new exhibition titled DIALO’s Journey by Hloniphani DIALO Dube. Artists working from the Gallery will have their studios open till late, with food and drink stalls available. To cater for film lovers, Episode 3 of Being Braydan, an online reality television show, will be screened. Friday Late is free of entry.

RULZZYNATION3rd is a hip hop, rap and afro-pop artist from Bulawayo in the Suburb of Barbourfields.
NATASHA is a singer, poetess
Philani A Nyoni (PAN)is an author and poet who has authored four books: “Once A Lover Always A Fool”(2012), “Hewn Fro Rock”(2014), “Mars His Sword”(2016), and “Philtrum”(2017). He has also published two international anthologies: “Splinters Of A Mirage Dawn, Migrant Poetry from South Africa” and “The Gonjun Pin and Others Stories”.PAN is a two- time NAMA winner for poetry. He is also a World Record holding sonneteer.
NYASHA Bothwell is a singer, songwriter from Emakhandeni Bulawayo. He has two projects namely, GITAA (2017) and THE ACOUSTIC AFFAIR (2019). Nyasha also plays the guitar.
MUNYA G BOPOTO is a performing poet and writer who has been published I two days of international anthologies. Currently a student-teacher as well.
KILLEMOL is a trio group which specialize in breaking down tribalism through music, mixing Ndebele, Shona and other Zimbabwean languages
VIKMOE a music powerhouse, sisters, singers and songwriters who cut across various genre. Born and raised in Bulawayo, upholding a big musical dream, they have two singles. They are working on their first album.
CAL VIN is a multi-award-winning (9 awards) hip hop artist and producer. Cal Vin has put out seven official alms and over 15 underground projects. He is an artist who produces his own music.
BEING BRAYDAN: Just like any other young adult in Zimbabwe, Braydan Heart, a 25-year-old Bulawayo boy navigates the streets of his home town trying to discover himself. Determined to make it in the creative industry, Braydan Heart, Michelle Chikwengo, John Mombeshora, and Linscah go through everyday problems just like any other person. The only difference is that they are not just any other Bulawayo kids, they see the world differently and the city is their playground. The show also profiles other young talented people, different destinations and spaces in Bulawayo and Zimbabwe as a whole.
