The second edition of the Skyz Metro FM Awards was held on the 21st of December 2018, at the Large City Hall.
The Skyz Metro FM Awards are hosted by Skyz Metro FM, the leading radio station in Bulawayo with over 500 000 listeners according to NewsDay. The Skyz Metro FM Awards are the radio stations premium annual musical celebration. The biggest winners of the night were Novuyo ‘Seagirl’ Dube and Zinjaziyamluma who both walked away with two awards each. Asaph the Hip-Hop man of the moment walked away with no award, a sad surprise as personally I believe Asaph’s Hip-Hop hustle was worth an award.
The Skyz Metro FM Awards ceremony gave Joe Maseko a posthumous award for the most outstanding contribution to music. Joe Maseko was a music veteran and producer who had worked with most of the leading musical icons in Southern African such as Culture Spears from Botswana, Achizi from Zimbabwe to mention a few.
Other notable award winners at the second edition of Skyz Metro FM Awards 2018 are Cal_Vin who won the Best Hip-Hop Award. Sandra Ndebele also walked away with Song of the Year for her song ‘Lizwile’ which features Professor from South Africa. An amazing song with an amazing video too.
